I like kayak.com to find flights, but the info is often out of date.  Recently it led me to www.onetravel.com where I bought airfare to the Caribbean for over $100 less than all other published fares - but I did have to call.

Hi,

I work in the travel industry.  If you are flexible Hotwire is a great choice it is affliated with Orbitz and gives reduced airfare on leading carriers however you just can't choose your flight times.  At any rate check it out.  Also check out cheaptickets.com.  Your best bet is to check out all sites find out the best price across all of them and then go directly to the airlines site.  Sometimes people don't realize that top websites like Expedia and  tack on booking fees for making your reservation through them.  That is why once I find the flight I want I go to the airline direct to see what they can do for me.  It is worth a shot anyhow!  Good luck. :)

I'll second the positive comment about Kayak, but haven't had the same experience about "out of date" info.  I like it's UI better than any other.  Since it sends you elsewhere to purchase tickets, I have no reluctance to use them.

With regard to out of date information I do know from experience the reason people receive that information is because a lot of sites only refresh data once in a 24 hour period.  So by clicking on the information you sometimes don't receive the refreshed data until the final booking stages and or you are prompted to call.  Flights, and cruises are capacity controlled so you may see a certain price now but five minutes later it can be gone.  My best advice to anyone shopping online for flights if it is a good deal book it!  If a class of air sells out then you are left with the higher price.

Hope this helps!
